Home Movies100 pays tribute to amateur cinema, a hundred years after its birth, making it flourish in a digital project that gives a great stage to the archive of the "short century" The European Commission has published a report on the development of the cinema industry, creating an online platform for viewing a large database of films. In addition to the visualization, there was a need to create the database itself and a back-office totally custom for the insertion and management of the site content.
From the front end point of view, the need was to be able to display media on the platform in a fast and optimized way, avoiding the long waiting to load files too heavy and with the possibility of filtering this database for research purposes or simple interest.
Home Movies 100 is the project that allows to celebrate the centenary of the birth of reduced film formats and the history of family, amateur, experimental and artist cinema.
Stories of the reduced format: it focuses on the strong increase in amateur film productions resulting from the arrival of light-weight cameras on the market. Through the Stories and the Archive, anyone can benefit from research, analysis, interviews conducted to revive these moments in our years .
Almanac: is one of the two methods used to make this project alive: in a very innovative way, it is told and reconnected to today’s collective history, through the daily publication of films or archive extracts that were shot on the same day during the "short century" of cinema.
